Two hundred victories of Metallurg in the play-offs
On March 24, in Balashikha, for the first time in the history of Russian hockey, Metallurg Magnitogorsk reached the milestone of 200 playoff wins. All playoff matches of the 1959/60, 1987/88 and 1991/92 seasons were taken into account.
Metallurg is out of competition
The closest pursuer for todays’ moment - Kazan "Ak Bars" - will not soon approach the milestone of 200 victories. To do this, Kazan players need to win 19 times. Dynamo Moscow has 180 wins, Avangard and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl have 159 each. SKA have 130, CSKA have 128. Salavat Yulaev is the last team to date to have won a hundred or more victories in the play- off - 122.
First victory
Metallurg won the first match in the playoffs against Spartak on March 2, 1993 with a score of 7:4.
50 playoff wins
The anniversary of 50 victories was reached on March 22, 2000 in the fourth semifinal match against Ak Bars. Then Metallurg managed to turn the tide in the third period and take up - 4:3! However, Magnitogorsk still did not qualify for the final.
100 wins in a playoff
Metallurg also won its 100th victory in the playoffs at home, beating Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo 4:1 on March 2, 2009 in the 1/8 finals. And again, the fate of the meeting depended on the third period. His Uralians won 3:1.
150 wins in a playoff
The line of 150 wins was reached six years later - on March 6, 2015, and also at home. In the match of the 1/8 finals, Metallurg hosted Salavat Yulaev, defeating him with a score of 3: 1.
