Biography

Hockey school

HC Metallurg, Magnitogorsk

He started his professional career in 2008 with Ak Bars hockey club system. There he played with Ak Bars-2 in the RUS-3 and with Bars in the MHL. Yakovlev made his KHL debut playing with Ak Bars Kazan during the 2010/11 season. Later he moved to the SHL to play with Neftyanik.

On 20 October 2011, Yakovlev signed a three-year deal with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. In 2015 he signed a three-year contract with KHL powerhouse SKA Saint Petersburg.

For the season 2018/19 he entered the NHL New Jersey Devils.
