Sergei Plotnikov signed 2-years deal with Metallurg.
He is a professional ice hockey player from Khabarovsk. Sergei debuted with Amur in the season 2009/10. After 3 seasons he moved to Lokomotiv from Yaroslavl and stayed for another 3 seasons. In his first North American season in 2015/16, Plotnikov played 32 games with Pittsburgh Penguins and 13 games with Arizona Coyotes.
As a free agent and with little success in the NHL, Plotnikov returned to Russia in agreeing to a two-year KHL contract with SKA Saint Petersburg in 2016. As a member of SKA Plotnikov won the Gagarin Cup in the season 2016/17.
In the last season with SKA he played 52 games, scored 31 (10+21) points, +/- rating is +9, 81 PIM, 97 hits, 11 BS, ATOI is 18:08 in the regular championship and 19:33 in the playoff.
Totally in the KHL he played 591 games, scored 325 (137+188) points, +/- rating is +97.
International play: Plotnikov won a gold medal with Russia at the 2014 World Championship, a silver medal with Russia at the 2015 World Championship and three bronze medals with Russia at the 2016, 2019 and 2019 World Championships.
